Traditional Bean: When It Snows in April

I remember taking the kids to the park to play pond hockey in January – all bundled up, and loaded down with skates and hockey equipment. I’d always bring a thermos of something hot – coffee, or chocolate – but when you’re sitting on the sidelines, it seems like nothing keeps you warm!

When we got home, I’d like to have my famous thick hot chili brewing in the slow-cooker. Based on Souptacular’s Traditional Bean, this is thick and meaty with a spicy kick, just the thing to warm you up after an afternoon of pond hockey with the kids! My boys always wolf it down after all that exercise, too.

Now, it’s April, officially spring, and we’re in the middle of another huge snow storm. My hot chili version of the Traditional Bean soup is back on the menu – may as well keep warm, and stay positive, even when there’s a blizzard in April!

How to make it:

Make the Traditional Bean recipe in the slowcooker. Add 1 lb of hamburger and 2 cups of salsa or crushed tomatoes. It’s that easy!
