Buying Local – Harder Than You Thought!

Hello Souptacular Friends,
A regular customer of ours, Nathalie Delaney from St. Albert, Alberta, emailed this informative advertisement from Hellmanns. The ad shows that much of the food available in Canadian food stores has originated from distant corners of the world – even foods like tomatos and blueberries, which you might expect came from our provinces.
This short clip is packed with so much information that you may need to watch it a few times to grasp the scope of where our farms have gone and who really is supplying our food source. “Buying local” is much harder than you would think! Here’s one tip to make things a little easier: when you buy at a Farmer’s Market, you are BUYING LOCAL! With very few exceptions, groceries purchased at a Farmer’s Market will have been grown or made in Canada – often within the province of the market.
Here are two of the BEST Farmer’s Markets in Canada! (we may be biassed!)
Here is the advertisement (if you are receiving this in an email, you may have to click through to our website to play the clip).
Love it… and thanks Nathalie for sharing this information with all of us!
Warmest Regards,
Maureen
