SOUPTACULAR AND OUR BIGGEST LOSER, JENNI!
Welcome back! Subscribe to enter the soup draw, offered several times per year.
Our good friend Jenni, whom you may have seen working one of our Souptacular market stalls, decided to use Souptacular in her weight loss challenge. You’ll love this story!
Several months ago, a friend on Facebook suggested that a bunch of us girls get together to play our own version of The Biggest Loser. I jumped on the idea. I had been gradually gaining weight since my early 20′s, and at 35 yrs old, I needed a boost to really lose.
I already knew about Souptacular soups….Tandori was my favourite. I run a dayhome, so I would make a batch on the weekend and portion it out for my lunches through the week. By doing this, I had lost about 10lbs
over 6 months even though my snacking consisted mostly of Coke and chips.
We started the competition at the beginning of Feb 2010. I weighed in at 162.5 lbs. I started by cutting out the Coke and unhealthy snacks. Then I signed up for aquasize once a week. I knew I would not keep up with a busy schedule of working out, I would have to lose the weight with healthy food.
So then I started making soup. I made several batches, some just as the label says, and some with extra veggies. I ate soup for lunch almost every day and sometimes had it for snack too! For the first 3 weeks I lost on average 2.5 lbs a week.
During week 5, I was not doing as well (down to a .5 loss that week), so I ramped it up with a “soup cleanse”. I made the Lentil Lovers soup and drank 1 cup of it every 2 hours for the whole day. I also drank lots of water. I wasn’t sure how I would feel at the end of the day, but it turns out I felt great! I went to Aquasize and had plenty of energy. That week I lost 2 pounds!! I have done 2 more cleanses both with similar success.
At the end of the competition I had lost 24 pounds over 12 weeks (14.8% of my body weight) and came in first!!!
FYI…. Jenni VanderWoude won $600.00 cash for winning first spot in the ‘Biggest Loser Challenge’!
Congratulations Jenni, you are an inspiration to us all and glad that ‘Souptacular’ was a part of your success!
