One way you can really enhance your soup is by adding some delicious fresh vegetables – and chefs know that carrots, celery and onions represent the “sacred triad” of basic vegetables you can add to almost any soup and achieve an enhanced flavor.
Let’s focus on the onion for now: did you know that it’s a very hearty vegetable that humans probably began cultivating very early in our history for its nutritional value and flavor? There are many different kinds of onions, and many other vegetables in the onion family, many of which could be added to your Souptacular soup to add nutrition and lend a different flavor. Next time you’re in the grocery store, check out some of the alternatives, including white, yellow, organic, shallots, and even some Asian varieties that you might find in T&T’s, if you’re ever at West Edmonton Mall.
