Cooking Souptacular Soups: Special Instructions

  1. Tomatos and cooked meats should be added closer to the end of the cooking time, so they don’t overcook.
  2. You can store your leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  3. Store leftovers longer in the freezer: up to 3 months.
  4. Always wash and inspect grain mix thoroughly before cooking. Our soups are a real agricultural product, so always check for stones or other little particles that shouldn’t end up in your soup!

The point is: you don’t need a lot of fancy equipment, time, or experience to add this great real food to your diet. Just add the Souptacular soup packet and water to your slow cooker or pot, and let it simmer for a few hours, adding extra ingredients if you like. Real food – so much better than fast food! – and just as convenient.

The Team Behind Souptacular Soups

I’m Maureen, my husband is Al, and together, we’re Souptacular Soups! I learned about healthy eating from my mother, who used low-sodium, no-MSG options before anyone else in our neighborhood. Al developed his love for great fresh foods eating straight from the garden in his home province, Saskatchewan. After he graduated from the NAIT culinary program, we started developing our line of Souptacular soups, and we sell them in the markets of Edmonton and St. Albert, and now – online!

Souptacular’s Traditional Bean Soup Makes Thick Hot Chili!

I remember taking the kids to the park to play pond hockey in January – all bundled up, and loaded down with skates and hockey equipment. I’d always bring a thermos of something hot – coffee, or chocolate – but when you’re sitting on the sidelines, it seems like nothing keeps you warm!When we got home, I’d like to have my famous thick hot chili brewing in the slow-cooker. Based on Souptacular’s Traditional Bean, this is thick and meaty with a spicy kick, just the thing to warm you up after an afternoon of pond hockey with the kids! My boys always wolf it down after all that exercise, too.

Now, it’s April, officially spring, and we’re in the middle of another huge snow storm. My hot chili version of the Traditional Bean soup is back on the menu – may as well keep warm, and stay positive, even when there’s a blizzard in April!

How to make it:

Make the Traditional Bean recipe in the slowcooker. Add 1 lb of hamburger and 2 cups of salsa or crushed tomatoes. It’s that easy!
